Hosts and producers of Black On Black: Angela Christopher was born in Montreal and is of Grenadian parentage. Angela first got involved with Black on Black in 1996 during the show's special Black History Month production of Black Notes, where she produced a piece on Africville (Canada's oldest black settlement that was razed by the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia). Since then, she has volunteered as a producer, host and on-air technician for the show. Angela brings to the show a background in communications (BA bilingual co-op Professional Writing Program from l'Université de Sherbrooke, Québec) and a sincere desire to see Ottawa's black community maximize its full potential. A rather introspective yet bonafide hedonist, she can be spotted at various community events taking place in the National Capital Region. Denise A. Moore was born in Guyana, South America and immigrated to Canada at the age of three. Graduated from Carleton University studying law and criminology. She has been a consultant in the field of Conflict Resolution since 1992. A founding member of the African-Canadian Dramatic Arts Society in 1991 whose aim is to increase awareness of African-Canadian arts in the community at large. Contributions within the Communications Industry include acting, writing, producing and the organizing of ten stage shows since 1991. She volunteers as producer, technician, interviewer, host and performer on CHUO-FM and CKCU-FM, Ottawa's community radio stations.
Kenyan-born Sarah Onyango joined the Black on Black team in 1998 as a host and producer. However, this self-confessed "news junkie" is certainly no newcomer to community media. She has written and translated articles for several Ottawa-Carleton community newspapers and has been an enthusiastic promoter of African/Caribbean community events for almost a decade, both on the radio and on television. Sarah is an alumnus of the University of Ottawa, where she obtained her B.A. Hons. in Translation, and holds a Master's in Linguistics from the Université de Franche-Comté (Besançon, France). Also hosting are Lorrie Hoyte, Jacqueline Lawrence and Adrienne Coddett. Unless otherwise credited, photographs are from the National Archives of Canada/Archives nationales du Canada.
