Missionaries We Support

Christian Education

Our Mission (What We Are About)

As members of a community that seeks to glorify God, we commit to bring the life-changing message of Christ to our neighbours, as well as each other.

Things We Feel Are Important To Calvin (Core Values)

The Christian life as lived at Calvin is meaningful in today's place and age

There is an atmosphere that warmly welcomes all (young, old, visitors and members)

There is a spirit led fellowship that models Christ and which has a rich prayer life

There is a loving, caring, encouraging, financially responsible community

We show a real concern for the lost that results in actions

There are worship services in which we come together as a church to praise God

The preaching is based on the Bible and it points people to Christ and what Christ wants us to believe and do

We know that all parts of life are under the rule of Christ

We hold to our Reformed creeds and beliefs

We have a strong bible based education program for all ages and support Christian day school education

We value being part of the Christian Reformed denomination

Vision of Calvin CRC Ottawa in 2002

Guided by the Word and Spirit,
Calvin is a congregation
where all ages are welcome and respected
and visitors gladly come to worship,
a Christ-centred, praying, caring community.
Here most youth and more than 25% of adults
participate in the educational program, and
an active small group ministry encourages spiritual growth
so that all may live with Christian integrity.

The "pairing" of young and old,
weak and strong,
new Christians and veterans,
to encourage mentoring, has
demonstrated a spirit of acceptance and sharing
which has helped to build community,
confidence and
openness.

The willingness to listen to each other
and the efforts of the larger ministry team
and other church leaders
to enfold everyone
has reduced the proportion of inactive members.

This is evident in well-attended, vibrant
weekday and Sunday worship celebrations,
which are characterized by biblical teaching/preaching,
well-chosen, reverent music in varying liturgies.
It is also evident from members
increasingly sharing the gospel with their neighbours
and seeking justice for the socially weak in the larger community
and the increasing number of visitors at our worship services.

As we have experienced spiritual growth, faithfulness in responsible financial stewardship has also increased.
