A PRACTICAL INTRODUCTION TO THE CHRISTIAN FAITH

• What is the point of life?

• What happens when we die?

• What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today?

• How do we deal with guilt?

If you would like to explore questions like these, then Alpha is for you.

What is Alpha For?

Alpha is for:

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. People of all ages (over 16) are welcome.

Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and to have fun at the same time.

Pasta and people. An opportunity to enjoy a meal while getting to know one anothers.

Helping one another. The small groups give you a change to discuss issues raised during the video talks.

Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone! It's especially geared to:

• People who want to investigate Christianity.

• New Christians and church newcomers.

• Couples preparing for marriage.

• Those who want to brush up on the basics or want their faith to grow deeper.

• Those who have doubts and need encouragement.

• Those who enjoy a good meal and meaningful fellowship.

What Happens At Alpha?

The evening begins with a dessert social, followed by a video-talk on the following topics:

• Who is Jesus?
• Why did Jesus die?
• How can I be sure of my faith?
• Why and how should I read the Bible?
• Why and how do I pray?
• How does God guide us?
• What about the Holy Spirit?
• How can I overcome evil?
• Why and how do I tell others?
• Does God heal today?
• What about the Church?
• How can I make the most of the rest of my life?

After each video presentation, we move into small groups for discussion of the issues that have been raised.

What Will it Cost?

There is no charge for the Alpha course. A free-will offering will be accepted to help defray the cost of the meal.

Where and When?

The next Alpha course will be announced on this website in the future. The evening begins with a dessert social, followed by a talk by Alpha leader Nicky Gumbel, and ending with a small group discussion. Be sure to invite a friend, relative, neighbour, or co-worker.
