We are looking for Mentors to be matched 1 to 1 with a Participant

What is a Mentor?

Someone who is 14 years of age and up who is willing to partner with a participant one on one for the duration of our SERVE experience.

A Typical Day

1. Breakfast with devotions
2. Work site jobs (painting, the Mission)
3. Lunch
4. Work site jobs
5. Rest and relaxation
6. A fun activity!
7. Dinner
8. Time of worship with singing and a speaker
9. Small group devotions

Expectations

1. Be a Christ-like example in everything you do and say.
2. Be kind, friendly, and helpful to everyone.
3. Stick like glue to your “buddy.” You are responsible to know where he/she is at all times!
4. Look for ways to help.
5. If you need assistance with your buddy (especially in the bathroom), please ask an adult!
6. At night you can be in the mentor meeting room or in the fellowship hall.
7. You need to be in your room by 11:00. You are not allowed to leave the church grounds except with the group, unless you have special permission from Pastor Ron.
8. No smoking, drinking, drugs, swearing.
9. Keep track of the schedule and know where you and your buddy are supposed to be when. Remember to PLAN AHEAD! Things take a little longer and you might not have the opportunity to come back to your room. (Always bring extra sunscreen and water wherever you go!)
10. Pace yourself. Your buddy might need time to have a nap or just spend resting. Help them gauge how they are doing.
11. Dress appropriately!
12. Mentors will meet each night for a ‘debriefing.’ (9:30-10:00). This helps you talk about your day –any challenges you had, the joys you were a part of, and a look toward the next day. This is the time to bring up any questions you may have.
13. In the morning, please get yourself up and ready to go first so you can then help your buddy get ready.
14. Be flexible. This week is bathed in prayer and led by the Holy Spirit.
