Don Atkinson made an impressive debut with his first novel, Nations Within. Using a colourful mix of drama, politics and conflict Atkinson brushes reality on the speculative canvas of a seceding Quebec. Throughout the description of the tripartite conflict that divides Canada, Quebec and the First Nations, Atkinson proves himself to be a master of suspense. In the words of these reviewers:
"Nations Within has everything...your fictional thriller set in a Canada on the verge of breakup,"
----Jim Robb, Ottawa Citizen"Nations Within is realistic, often chillingly so,"
----Pauline Kerr, Tilbury TimesFast-paced thriller...very exciting,"
----Doug Aldridge, CFMO FMFiction but close to fact...creates lots of suspense,"
----Rhonda London, CHRO TVA thriller in speculative fiction,"
----Al Baldwin, Rogers Breakfast ClubI found the language tight, the plot engaging and the message chilling,"
----Robert Lecker, Profesor of English, McGill.
