The Tweeter

 

The reproduction of high frequency tones is the task of a modified loudspeaker called a tweeter (Fig.7).  The tweeter operates efficiently at these frequencies by using a convex dome instead of a cone, and a very lightweight voice coil and bobbin.  A large enclosure for this type of loudspeaker is not required as the diameter of the dome is only about one inch or less, and the dome displacement from high frequency amplifier signals is small.
