Marble (Wakefield, Quebec) Green Marble (Italy) Grey Soapstone (Salluit, Quebec) 12" X 7" X 7.5" 1997

I worked on this sculpture in anticipation of my second child, Martin, and finished two weeks before his birth in August, 1997. This was my first experiment with the somewhat brittle marble found in a quarry near my home. The eyes are inlayed pieces of Italian marble, with a futher inlay of grey stone for the pupils.
