The idea for this piece developed when my mother wanted to give a friend
of hers a gift. The goal was to have some kind of environmental theme with some
kind of interactive play about it, so we came up with the idea of a tree with
varied and interchangeable leaves. Any of the leaves can be placed in any configuration,
which gives the sculpture a number of subtly different looks.
