  • Used historical airphotography to chronical the impact of human activity in Georgian Bay Islands National Park (1924 to 1996). Airphotos were scanned and interpreted to identify evidence of human activity. The results of the analysis were georeferenced and added to a GIS database. The database allowed the user to querry and display the distribution of human activity within the Park over the study time frame. The final analysis results were animated into a video display to show changes in human activity over time. The video clearly showed the impact of changes in park management policy.

  • In partnership with Parks Canada a series of spactial attributes were generated for NOAA AVHRR satellite data. The data reported information such as the number of landcover patches, the mean patch size, the mean patch perimater, the area to perimature ratio, and mean shape index etc. The data were reported for the 217 ecoregions and can be used to define phisical characteristics of habitat.
