Analysis
The analysis of EcoMAP data can be done by simple, compound or complex application methods. Simple applications are such cases as crossing primary data with ecoregions, ecoprovinces or ecozones to provide basic statistics over geographic areas. Compound applications cross the results of simple applications to generate data exemplifying the relationship between the data sets or showing change over time. Complex applications go a step further to calculate the relationship of several data sets by using weighting factors to indicate their importance in the relationship. This application is known as modelling and can be used to provide various senarios regarding current or future events.

EcoMAP can produce numerous data layers at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. These data are presented in table format, as calculated graphs and as geographically distributed data on maps. Complex data analysis in the form of modelling can also be produced from an Application Matrix which lists data sources. Many of the potential applications have been tested under contract and are ready for implementation. EcoMAP is the most extensive collection of environmental information aggregated on the ecological framework of Canada in any one database.
