This module consists of off-the-shelf components which work in combination to capture the PROCOM-2 projected image, with or without registration to a hard copy map, and to transfer those images to your computer system as digital files. These digital images can then be used for image interpretation, for on-screen digitizing, or as backdrop images for other data analysis.
Using the PROCOM-2, images from different films of your study area can be scaled and registered to a single hard copy map which will provide both common scale and geographic registration of all the data thus eliminating the need for computer registration, rotation and resampling.
The software (run in Windows95 and 98) accompanying the DC Module allows viewing of the image prior to capture and includes image enhancement functions to maximize the quality of the visual output. Digital capture is at high resolutions and the digital files can be used in most GIS or image analysis systems.
The speed with which these images can be captured, the data enhancement, integration and registration features, and the magnification capability of the PROCOM-2, all add up to a versatile and cost-effective method of data transfer and interpretation.
