A brief history of professional training at NPSIA

Since its establishment in 1966, NPSIA has prepared and trained leaders for careers in international affairs.

Today, the School counts among it’s alumni currently serving ambassadors, leaders in global  business and highly skilled and recognized development and non-governmental professionals.

In the early 1990’s NPSIA  Faculty played a significant role in the development of Canada’s own Foreign Service Institute.

In 2005, NPSIA   Director Dr. Fen Hampson established the position of Director of Professional Training and Development with the cooperation of the Dean of Public Affairs leading to the first formal programs in professional training under the direction of Dr. Natalie Mychajlyszyn.

NPSIA-PTD is now a centre for continuing learning run through the Office of Professional Training and Development and is set to build on the success of the School and it’s well-earned reputation for effective professional training and development.
