The Kindermusik curricula are divided into age-appropriate units.  A brief description of each of the levels follows:

Kindermusik Family Time, the new curriculum created by Kindermusik for families with children from birth to 7 years, is designed to apply musical and developmental learning in a multi-age, multi-child, family environment.  In a “one room schoolhouse” environment, Family Time helps children develop musical skills, as well as the social skills necessary to share, take turns, and strengthen the emotional bond among family members.  The little ones watch the older ones, and learn from them.  The older child gains leadership qualities as well as heightened self-esteem.  This is a great way for parents with children of various ages to spend time together, doing one activity as a family.

Kindermusik Village, the introductory class for children from birth to 18 months, features multi-themed 8-week teaching units. Parents or caregivers accompany the children and participate in the 45 minute classes. Children are exposed to singing, chanting, vocal play, object play, intentional touch, literature and movement to music -- and parents learn how to beneficially interact with their babies. Parent education is fostered by the educator as each activity's benefit is explained. One of the only structured music education programs for this age group, Kindermusik Village offers parents and babies an introduction to the wonderful world of music.
Kindermusik Our Time, the curriculum for children 18 months through 3 years, encourages parental guidance, and features the incorporation of children's literature. Parents or caregivers accompany the children and participate in the 45-minute class. Children learn what comes naturally to them -- music and movement -- in an environment that fosters creative growth at an individual pace. As the most up-to-date, researched-based music education program for this age group, Kindermusik Our Time offers parents the opportunity to aid their child's overall development and introduce them to the world of music.

Kindermusik Imagine That! is founded on the integration of music and imagination for children ages 3½ to 5 years. The program content is the direct result of a shift in the educational research that has been conducted over the past 10 years. This research confirms that pre-school age children thrive on participatory, expressive learning. Through extensive research, numerous focus groups and ongoing consultations with early childhood experts, Kindermusik has produced an exceptional educational opportunity that addresses an area never before fully tapped by a musical learning curriculum ... the pre-school child's unique affinity to learn through pretend play.
Kindermusik for the Young Child, the final program in the series, as well as the flagship program, has been developed for children 5 to 7 years of age. Activities such as singing folk songs, learning to play simple instruments - such as the glockenspiel, the dulcimer and the recorder, reading and writing elementary musical notation, exploring the different musical styles and instruments from around the world, studying composers using stories and operas, and exploring movement and dances all serve to ensure that a child has a complete musical experience. Upon graduation the student is ready to start formal music instruction on an instrument of his/her choice, sing in a choir or pursue other musical endeavours.

Kindermusik Adventures, a spring or summer 5-lesson camp program for young children birth to 7, provides a shorter unit of fun related activities for the whole family. For the babies, two units are offered Peek-a-boo, I Love You and Busy Days.  For the 18 month to 4 year old child Creatures at the Ocean, Creatures in my Backyard and Zoo Train offer a delightful array of fun theme-based activities. For the 3-5 year old child On The Road and Confetti Days offer arts and crafts, songs, stories, movement and summer fun activities. For the 5-7 year old child the program deals with topics such as music of other cultures in Around the World and as they are related to folktales in Tell Me a Tale. With each thematic unit, children receive a CD of all songs and chants in the program unit, five full colour picture folders or a story book, materials for arts and crafts projects (3-7year olds), an instrument, and totes for transporting materials to and from home (5-7 year olds).
