What is Kindermusik ® ?
Kindermusik is a unique, highly creative, music learning experience for children from
birth through to 7 years of age. In Kindermusik classes, children sing and move,
chant, play simple instruments and listen purposefully. The natural creativity of a
child's mind is stimulated in a learning environment where the emphasis is on process, not
performance.
Kindermusik has been designed by early childhood education specialists for specific
age groups and developmental levels. The classes are structured, yet fun; they encourage
individual development and simultaneously strengthen group interaction skills.
Parent/child bonding is enhanced as parents participate with their children in class, and
later at home with Kindermusik CDs and books.
The Kindermusik curriculum is based on the Kindermusik Foundations of Learning, and the early curricula have a strong emphasis on parent education.
The Kindermusik curriculum is structured in six age-appropriate programs. |
 |
Kindermusik Village, the
introductory class for children from birth to 18 months, features multi-themed 8-week teaching units. Parents or caregivers accompany the children and participate in the 45
minute classes. Children are exposed to singing, chanting, vocal play, object play,
intentional touch, literature and movement to music -- and parents learn how to
beneficially interact with their babies. One of the only structured music education
programs for this age group, Kindermusik Village offers parents and babies and
introduction to the wonderful world of music. |
| Kindermusik Our Time,
the completely revised curriculum for children 18 months through 3 years, encourages
parental guidance, and features the incorporation of children's literature. Parents
or caregivers accompany the children and participate in the class. Children learn what
comes naturally to them -- music and movement -- in an environment that fosters creative
growth at an individual pace. As the most up-to-date structured music education program
for this age group, Kindermusik Our Time offers parents the opportunity to
introduce their young children to the world of music. |

Growing With Kindermusik,
the second program in the Kindermusik curriculum, focuses on children ages 31/2 to 5 years.
As children become more adept with their verbal, motor and social skills, their level of
involvement in the class increases. Children are encouraged to participate and their
potential for creative expression is expanded. A child's imagination, capacity for play,
enjoyment and participation are enhanced in this two-semester, non-sequential course. |
| Kindermusik for the Young Child,
the final program in the series, has been developed for children 5 to 7 years of age.
Activities such as singing folk songs, learning to play simple instruments, reading and
writing elementary musical notation, and co-ordinated movements all serve to ensure that a
child has a complete musical experience. Watch for a newly designed second year of the Kindermusik
for the Young Child curriculum coming this fall! |

Kindermusik Adventures,
a newly developed program for young children aged 4 to 6, not only provides a rich arts
experience, it also deals with topics that are of special interest and importance to
children. The program is theme based and deals with topics such as music of other cultures
in Kindermusik Adventures Around the World and the arts as they are related to
world habitats in Kindermusik Adventures Near and Far. With each thematic unit,
children receive a CD of all songs and chants in the program unit, five full
colour picture folders, materials for arts projects related to the musical focus of the
lesson, and totes for transporting materials to and from home. |
| Music Box from Kindermusik is a
carefully designed program that provides unique, structured music activities for young
children in daycare and preschool settings. Music Box helps your preschooler explore the
world with exciting games and interactive songs that foster self-expression and
creativity. Tapping out rhythms on sticks, shaking jingle bells, moving, dancing, and
singing are all part of your child's play in the Music Box world each week. |
 |
Kindermusik children develop an understanding of music,
movement and co-ordination, and they also expand their language, critical thinking and
social interaction skills. A "holistic" approach to child development,
Kindermusik fosters age-appropriate learning in music, language, movement and listening.
Kindermusik can be a child's first step toward creative, life-long learning. It is
the only early childhood, general music program with a network of more than 3,800 licenced Kindermusik educators throughout the U.S., Canada, Singapore, and 20 other countries.
